Part 1 of the OVA series deals mainly with the introduction of all characters.  Originally, the animators were only given 6 episodes to produce.  So that is why the OVA is divided into 2 series with 1½ episodes used to tie them together and complete a few loose plot strings plus the Mihoshi Special to test and introduce the Pretty Sammy series.  This all makes a grand total of 14½ episodes.  Part 1 of the OVA series includes episodes 1-6.

Episodes 1-6 begin with Ryoko's release and end with Kagato's death.  The OVA series follows the main plot very loosely focuses mainly around the sub-plots of each episode.  This enables the episodes to form almost completely independent stories on their own.  The main plot, the conflict with Kagato, is compacted mainly into episodes 5 and 6.

What follows are semi-short summaries of each episode.
